Description

HASU portrays the Asian American cultural themes of familial obligation and caring for one’s elders. Yet, this story transcends racial, ethnic, and cultural boundaries by honoring caretakers and reminding us of the pain, beauty, and profound power of unconditional love.


Director's Bio

Alayna Kobayashi is a writer, director, and editor with a passion for creating films that celebrate and honor the stories of others. At age 12, she created her first documentary about her grandparents’ experiences as Japanese American children during WWII and has since continued to develop her skills. She is an alumna of Loyola Marymount University’s School of Film and Television and is currently an Associate Producer at NBC Skycastle.
