Tung is an up and coming magician, who tends to party a bit too much. However, he meets the mysterious Phuong and his world completely stops. Their romance blossoms but there are immediate pitfalls, disruptive ghosts, which he also can now see! The latest and last film of Vietnamese American filmmaker Stephane Gauger, KISS & SPELL is a remake of the Korean film SPELLBOUND.

KISS AND SPELL is a supernatural romantic comedy about a magician and a girl who has the ability to see ghosts. Tung is an up and coming magician, who tends to party a bit too much. However, he meets the mysterious Phuong and his world completely stops. Their romance blossoms but there are immediate pitfalls, disruptive ghosts, which he also can now see! In the meantime, Phuc, Tung’s manager, is trying to steer him to romance a big starlet who can up the ante when it comes his career. Who will he choose, but more so, who are these ghosts and can Tung somehow lead them to crossover?

The last film of Vietnamese American filmmaker Stephane Gauger (OWL AND THE SPARROW, VIETNAM OVERTURES, SAIGON ELECTRIC), who sadly passed away soon after the release of this film, KISS & SPELL is a remake of the Korean film SPELLBOUND. A charming romancer with twists and turns, this latest version is also infused with a humanity that is a constant in all of Gauger’s films and a love letter to the city of Saigon. – Anderson Le

Director's Bio

Stephane Gauger was born in Vietnam, and raised in Orange County. His feature directing debut OWL AND THE SPARROW, shot on location in Vietnam, premiered at the 2007 Rotterdam Film Festival, and was winner of nine festival awards including the audience award for best narrative feature at the 2007 Los Angeles Film Festival. Gauger returned to Vietnam to direct two more features, SAIGON ELECTRIC (2011) and KISS AND SPELL (2017).
