Description

In 1918, Takamure Itsue embarked on a solo pilgrimage to circumnavigate the island of Shikoku. Takamure went on to become an important Japanese feminist, anarchist, and historian of women’s stories. A hundred years later, the filmmaker embarks on a journey to retrace the footsteps of this fearless explorer.


Director's Bio

As an immigrant filmmaker who grew up in the American South, Jing Niu develops films stemming from her experiences. Currently based in LA, Jing spends her time making films featuring strong, independent Asian female protagonists. As a recipient of the Visual Communications’ AWC Fellowship, her narrative short film, HORNET’S REVENGE will also be playing at this year’s LAAPFF.
