HASU portrays the Asian American cultural themes of familial obligation and caring for one’s elders. Yet, this story transcends racial, ethnic, and cultural boundaries by honoring caretakers and reminding us of the pain, beauty, and profound power of unconditional love.

At age 12, she created her first documentary about her grandparents’ experiences as Japanese American children during WWII and has since continued to develop her skills.
