Description

BEAST is a short documentary film exploring how street dance brought together a group of suburban Asian and Latino youths from Carson, California. Through dance, they found both brotherhood and liberation from their circumstances.


Director's Bio

Johnson Cheng is an award-winning Chinese American writer/director hailing from the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County. After receiving his B.A. in International Relations, he joined Columbia University’s M.F.A. Film Directing/Screenwriting program. His films have screened at international film festivals such as Tribeca, TIFF Kids, Reykjavík, Cinequest, Nashville, Florida, and Palm Springs. Johnson is a member of the Motion Picture Editors Guild.
